Elfvent ("the app") is made by 3DI Solutions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06557502), registered office Little Acre, 10 Southerwicks, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9NH, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at hello@elfvent.com.
There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your data.
Videos and photos you add are only for the one person you send your calendar code to.
The Hot and Cold camera game runs on your phone. What the camera sees is never saved or sent anywhere.
Online copies are deleted after Christmas. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.
If you give a calendar (the giver):
Names: your first name and the receiver's, as you type them, shown on the calendar.
A gift-tag note (optional) and, for each day, a few words about where the present is hidden. The elves use these to write the riddle and hints.
For each day: a 10-second video of the hiding place, a photo of the gift, and three "Elf's Eye" photos taken with the in-app camera. These are filmed in your home or another place you choose, so please don't film other people without their agreement.
The calendar's code and settings: the elves chosen, the music, the difficulty.
If you receive a calendar (the receiver): which doors you've opened, how many hints and clues you used, when you found each present and how long it took. The giver sees this so they know their presents were found.
For everyone: Elfvent signs in anonymously. Firebase gives your phone a random ID, with no name, email or phone number. The ID is used to link the giver's and receiver's phones and keep each calendar private to those two phones.
Purchases are made through Google Play. We receive confirmation that a calendar has been paid for, but never see your card or bank details.
Online copies are stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) in London, United Kingdom. Google processes them on our behalf as our service provider. Information is encrypted while it travels between your phone and Firebase. Calendars can only be opened with their code, and each day can only be seen by the receiver's phone from its date in December. Before a day reaches the elves, it stays on the giver's phone.
We don't use your location, contacts or microphone.
We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
We don't use analytics or tracking tools.
We don't sell or share your information with anyone for marketing.
The camera is only used when you tap Film now, take Elf's Eye snaps, or play Hot and Cold. In Hot and Cold, the live camera picture is compared with the Elf's Eye photos on your phone, and is never recorded or uploaded.
Each calendar is for one Christmas. We delete the online copies (videos, photos, names, notes and progress) by 31 January after that Christmas. The receiver's phone keeps its own copy as a keepsake until the app is uninstalled. The giver can delete a calendar at any time in the app, which removes its online copies straight away, or by emailing us.
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email hello@elfvent.com and include your calendar's ELF- code so we can find it. We'll reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We use your information because it's needed to provide the calendar you asked for (performing our contract with you), and for the receiver's progress, because the giver has a legitimate interest in knowing their presents were found.
Elfvent is made for adults and is not designed for children. Please don't use it to send a calendar to a child under 13.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
